For patients with uneven gumlines, short-looking teeth or gummy smiles, Cavan offers gum contouring and aesthetic crown lengthening where appropriate, helping create more harmonious proportions between the teeth and gums.

Equally, where gum tissue is thin, deficient or receding, he performs connective tissue grafting, free gingival grafting and gum recession coverage procedures to improve tissue thickness, coverage and stability where clinically achievable.

His restorative work includes composite bonding, crowns, veneers, onlays, bridges and comprehensive full-mouth rehabilitation.

His implant work encompasses both titanium and ceramic implants, immediate implant placement, implant bridges and full-arch rehabilitation, including All-on-X treatment.

Advanced Surgery & Bone Reconstruction

Cavan’s surgical expertise extends well beyond conventional implant placement.

He performs surgical and atraumatic extractions, socket preservation, guided implant surgery, soft-tissue grafting and complex bone reconstruction.

His bone grafting procedures range from minor localised defects to major ridge augmentation, including guided bone regeneration and Khoury bone plate techniques using bone harvested from the patient’s own jaw. He also performs both crestal and lateral sinus lifts.

Cavan offers tooth autotransplantation in suitable cases, providing selected patients with a biological alternative to conventional tooth replacement.

These techniques allow him to rebuild the bone and gum foundations needed to support the planned restoration, particularly in challenging aesthetic and implant cases.

Bite, Jaw Function & TMD

Alongside restorative and surgical dentistry, Cavan has pursued advanced training in the assessment and management of bite-related problems, teeth grinding, jaw muscle pain and temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

He travelled to the United States to train directly with Dr Ben Sutter and Dr Robert Kerstein, internationally recognised clinicians and researchers in digital occlusal analysis and Disclusion Time Reduction (DTR) therapy.

Cavan became the first certified DTR Therapy provider in the United Kingdom.

Using technologies including T-Scan digital bite analysis, BioEMG muscle activity measurements and joint vibration analysis, he can investigate how the teeth contact, how the jaw muscles respond and how the jaw joints function.

These findings can help guide individualised treatment for selected patients with bite-related dysfunction.

His understanding of dental biomechanics is also particularly valuable when designing complex crowns, implant restorations and full-mouth rehabilitations.
